Germination - Establishes the seed lot’s potential under ideal conditions, as per CFIA guidelines.
(test length 7 – 21 days depending on crop kind)

Vigour – Establishes the seed lot’s potential under cold, wet conditions, planted in soil.
(test length 12 days)

Cereal Diseases– Total Fusarium (F. graminearum & F. culmorum) and Cochliobolus sativus
The most common Cereal diseases that adversely affect the seed quality.

Sample size requirements

  • Cereal and smaller seed crops, 1.5 – 2 cups (250 grams)
  • Field Pea, Chickpea, Soybean & Beans, 3 – 4 cups (400 grams)
  • Whenever possible, hand screen your sample prior to sending. We do not clean samples before testing as per CFIA regulations.

Purity – The retrieval of weed and other crop seeds from a cleaned sample. Not to be confused with varietal identification.

  • Sample Size: Minimum 1 KG for cereals, pulses, and other similar sized crops. Minimum 200 grams for flax, canary, canola, and mustards.

APHIS certificate – PPQ form 925 for export of seed to the USA - Sample requirements the same as for Purity. A completed and signed Sampler Declaration form must accompany the sample. Declaration Form
